the calamity of social networking

Do not forsake your friend and your father’s friend, and do not go to your brother’s house in the day of your calamity. Better is a neighbor who is near than a brother who is far away. — Proverbs 27:10 (ESV)

In a world of social networking and online relationships, how does this strike you?

I find it interesting how in other countries, such as Ethiopia or Eritrea for example (only know this because I did a project on them), they say that your neighbor is your closest family.
