come awake

Awake, O sleeper,
and arise from the dead,
and Christ will shine on you. - Ephesians 5:14 (ESV)

How do you awake, if you didn't or don't know that you were or are asleep? Much like when you're in a dream, before you know it's a dream and it seems so real that "why would you want to wake from it?" Yet, as soon as you find out it's a dream, you can control it and wake up, though you must recognize that it truly is a dream. So, how do you recognize that you are asleep now, so that you can rise from that and let Christ shine?

Your logic is trully dizzying. Haven't you ever been woken by God? He likes to wake me in the middle of the night for a chat.

Okay, I did not take the picture . . .

Chris, when asking such questions surrounding a verse or passage I always look at the context to help define what the author IS trying to say, and what he IS NOT trying to say. Then you can figure out if that will actually answer your question (which I think Ephesians 5 does). Let me know what you think . . .
