itunes dilemma

Well, as part of the bounty of Christmas I received $45 in iTunes gift cards. However, I am feeling out of the music loop. I am looking for some suggestions of your top two current artists or songs. Please comment with your ideas!

Nick's new favorite alternative christian band is Falling Up and the album is Crashings (which is actually kind of old). He is also really getting into Daft Punk because of John Renfro. David and I like Lifehouse (band and album name).

Have you tried the new genius bar in iTunes? Sometimes they give you good suggestions. Click on your favorite song and voila they suggest stuff.

I have come to like Downhear an Australian group. A couple of songs on their newest album that I like are:
"The Beggar That Gives Alms" and "Hope Is Rising". There is a Christmas song on it also "How Many Kings" the tune isn't the best but the words are great!

I know what you mean by "feeling out of the music loop". When you're busy buying things like diapers (and then paying for voice/dance lessons, and then college tuition...) listening/buying to the latest music is not high on your list of priorities. I'll second your dad's recommendation of Downhere (although I believe they're from Canada). I bought Marisa their "Wide-Eyed and Mystified" album about a year ago after hearing "The More". The sound and the range of the lead vocalist in "The More" (they have 2 lead vocalists) reminds me a lot of Freddie Mercury (Queen). You can listen to some of their complete songs at downhere.com.

Well.... My two artists have been said already, but not my songs! :)

Right now I absolutely love "Here I am" by Downhere, it is just a great surrendering kind of song. Another one is "Storm" by Lifehouse. It grew on me, but became very encouraging through some recent trials. Ok, one more! "Bring the rain" by MercyMe, because sometimes it takes the rain.

Hope you have a blast picking songs!

Ryan,

I have no idea if you have used this yet by my 2 favorite Christian artists/bands are Starfield and Chris Tomlin. The song "Reign in Us" by Starfield has made me a better person and is now my hearts' song. You have to listen to it. Chris Tomlin is just an amazing singer. I love all his songs.

Your cousin,
Mindy

Downhere seems to be a theme!

Haven't really listened to Starfield before, but have heard of them, and I am sure I would recognize their songs from the radio.

I love Tomlin! I am still getting familiar with his new album, Hello Love.

I got some great recommendations for Dan Miles and Paul Stephens on Facebook. I'm enjoying them.
