So goes the song of sin; with suttle tones and whispers of suggestion. The lure of thoughts not your own. The tug of habits long been home. The song of selfishness has been the only tune I've known.
This one was sitting unfinished in my drafts for a few months . . . I wrote it soon after a slip up and got stuck at "The song of selfishness . . ." When I came back to it on Sunday the rest of the line just rolled out as I read "has been the only tune I've known."
Some old guy told me I might be good at poetry. So I just tried. Then I really got crazy and read some poetry at a Day 7 Talent Night. I felt real naked. But it was a great way to share my inner workings.
You should post some stuff and then we can be the "judge" of whether or not you are a "dunderhead."
This blog is a chance for me to record my thoughts so that I might reflect, be challenged by others, and grow. I am married to Rebecca and have three kids, Ashlyn, Caleb, & Eli.
Keep a close watch on yourself and on the teaching. Persist in this, for by so doing you will save both yourself and your hearers. - 1 Timothy 4:16 (ESV)

I'm always impressed with your poetry. I'm such a dunderhead when it comes to writing poetry.

No, it's not that my poetry is bad...it just doesn't come out that way when I write. I think in prose I'm afraid.
