I find it interesting that people like Thompson's message of less government interference, but have rarely heard of candidate Ron Paul, who has been preaching and living it for twenty years.
Hmmm. I looked at Ron Paul. He is certainly interesting. I was intrigued by his overview of his position on war. I appreciated his reference to Washington's encouragement to stay out of international affairs. Looks like a pretty solid guy.
I wish I could get more passionate about politics. I seem to end up living out the belief that politics is more of a weakness in human soceity which needs not cause our failure, but will surly not solve our problems.
I have been wrestling with the qustion, "What is the purpose and goal of government?" As this question remains largerly unanswered in its implications, I have really only come up with the need to protect the inalienable rights of citizens.
Other governmental services can be beneficial, but seem to only remove any individual responsibility for the state of communal living. We seem to be able to distance ourselves from any personal responsibility for education, morality, waste, etc because we pay taxes and these are "services" that should be provided as a result.
I wonder how these programs which serve us and distance us from personal responsibility have truly affected our relationships and quality of life?
This blog is a chance for me to record my thoughts so that I might reflect, be challenged by others, and grow. I am married to Rebecca and have three kids, Ashlyn, Caleb, & Eli.
Keep a close watch on yourself and on the teaching. Persist in this, for by so doing you will save both yourself and your hearers. - 1 Timothy 4:16 (ESV)

I am in love with Fred.
Federalism should be better understood by voters.
The 10th Amendment should be better understood by voters.
